Gnesen Township is now offering outdoor Pickleball at the Gnesen Community Center. Pickleball is easy to learn and play. It is a good game for all ages. The court is laid out in the second outdoor tennis court. Everything you need to play the game is provided. Balls, paddles and information on the game is in a green Rubbermaid container on the court. Please feel free to use the equipment. Simply return it to the Rubbermaid container when you are finished. If you have any questions, please feel free to call Gunnar Johnson at 349-3320. If we get enough players, maybe we can start an indoor group this winter.
How To Play Pickleball
Pickle-ball® is played on a badminton-sized court: 20’ x 44.’ The ball is served diagonally (starting with the right-hand service-square), and points can only be scored by the side that serves.
Players on each side must let the ball bounce once before volleys are allowed, and there is a seven-foot no-volley zone on each side of the net, to prevent “spiking.” The server continues to serve, alternating service courts, until he or she faults. The first side scoring eleven points and leading by at least two points wins. Pickle-ball® can be played with singles or doubles.
